Weathersfield, VT – A Weathersfield woman is facing multiple charges after allegedly fleeing a traffic stop and resisting arrest late Tuesday night, according to the Windsor County Sheriff’s Department.

Sheriff Ryan Palmer said the incident began around 10:35 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, when deputies spotted a man known to have an active arrest warrant, identified as George Ottenbreit, near Downers Store in Weathersfield. As deputies confirmed the warrant, Ottenbreit reportedly fled the area on foot.

Moments later, Meghan LaClair, 41, described as a close associate of Ottenbreit, was seen leaving the store in Ottenbreit’s vehicle. Sheriff Palmer said LaClair was driving with an expired license when he attempted to pull her over using lights and siren. Instead of stopping, LaClair allegedly drove to Ottenbreit’s residence, where she got out of the vehicle and tried to walk away.

According to the report, LaClair was subsequently detained after a brief confrontation during which she resisted and fought with the sheriff before being taken into custody. Deputies later discovered methamphetamine in her possession.

The vehicle was seized by authorities and removed from the scene by Twinline Towing & Recovery.

LaClair has been charged with Attempting to Elude, Resisting Arrest, and Possession of Methamphetamine. She was cited and released after processing at the Ludlow Police Department.

The Springfield Police Department and Ludlow Police Department assisted in the arrest. LaClair is scheduled to appear in Windsor County Court on January 13, 2026, at 8:30 a.m.
