Jonesborough, TN – A Johnson City man wanted for a probation violation was arrested this week after deputies allegedly found meth, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia inside a motel room.

According to the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrested 42-year-old Matthew John Turner at a Johnson City motel on Saturday, Sept. 27. Sheriff Keith Sexton said Turner was wanted on a probation violation warrant. Deputies located his truck at the motel, served the warrant, and took him into custody.

Authorities said Turner allegedly attempted to evade arrest, fought deputies, and was taken to the ground. A search warrant for his motel room led deputies to allegedly find 11.5 grams of methamphetamine, 22.5 grams of marijuana, a glass pipe with residue, and several needles.

Deputies reported that while being transported in a patrol cruiser, Turner allegedly kicked the door so hard that the seal was damaged. He now faces additional charges including manufacture/delivery/sale/possession of methamphetamine, resisting arrest, escape, unlawful drug paraphernalia, and vandalism.

Turner was booked into the Washington County Detention Center and is being held on a $15,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in court on Monday, Sept. 29.
