Virginia Beach, Va. – After a sunny and calm Thursday, a round of storms will push into southeastern Virginia by Friday morning, bringing potential travel disruptions and safety hazards. Residents in Virginia Beach should prepare now for wet roads, localized flooding, and possible thunderstorm activity, especially near major routes like I-264 and US-58.

According to the National Weather Service in Wakefield, showers and thunderstorms are likely after 11 a.m. Friday, with a 30% chance of precipitation during the day. Storm chances increase to 40% Friday night. New rainfall amounts may remain light, but any heavier downpours could quickly cause ponding on roads and reduced visibility.

Saturday brings another wave of unstable weather with a 50% chance of afternoon storms, making outdoor plans risky throughout the weekend. Temperatures will hover around the mid-80s, but humidity will add to discomfort levels, especially during the afternoon hours.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware, delay non-essential travel during peak storm hours, and secure loose outdoor items. Charge devices, check flashlights, and prepare for spotty power interruptions through the weekend.

More showers and thunderstorms are expected Sunday into Monday, keeping conditions unsettled through early next week.
