Blacksburg, VA – Residents across Virginia should prepare for light rainfall early this week as tropical moisture from Imelda interacts with a coastal front. The National Weather Service in Blacksburg reports that the best chance for showers will be Monday and Tuesday, especially across the Piedmont region.

According to the National Weather Service, rainfall amounts are expected to remain low, with most locations receiving a half-inch or less. While totals will be light, officials noted that the precipitation should provide beneficial moisture to the region.

Temperatures are forecast to remain mild through the start of the week. Overnight lows Sunday into Monday will dip between 53 and 62 degrees. Highs Monday are expected to reach 68 to 77 degrees, followed by slightly cooler conditions Tuesday with highs ranging from 64 to 74 degrees.

The weather service highlighted that the most consistent rainfall will occur over the Piedmont, where showers may be more persistent. However, residents across southwest and central Virginia should be prepared for occasional rain showers both days.

Drivers are encouraged to allow extra time for their morning and evening commutes, as light rainfall can create slick road conditions.
