Prince William County, VA – Police are seeking witnesses after a 13-year-old boy was seriously injured during a robbery outside Benton Middle School in Manassas following a Thursday night Virginia football game.
According to Lt. Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department, the victim was approached by three other juveniles after the game at the school on 7411 Hoadly Road. Police said the boy was struck from behind, knocked to the ground, and had his shoes stolen.
An off-duty Virginia State Trooper witnessed the altercation and intervened, detaining one suspect while two others fled, Perok said. Officers were called to the scene around 7:24 p.m., and a K-9 search of the area did not locate the remaining suspects.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Authorities described the suspects as teenagers wearing ski-style masks. Police are asking anyone with information or game-day video footage to contact the Prince William County Police Department at 703-792-6500.
The detained suspect, a 14-year-old boy, was charged with aggravated malicious wounding, robbery, and assault by mob. He remains in juvenile detention pending a court hearing, Perok said.
