Salt Lake City, UT – Spring officially arrives this Thursday, but winter is holding on in Utah, bringing rain and snow for St. Patrick’s Day and beyond. Monday’s forecast includes scattered showers in the morning, turning into widespread rain and snow by nightfall.

According to the National Weather Service, Monday will start partly sunny with a high near 63°F, but rain showers will develop in the evening before transitioning to snow overnight. Winds will shift northwest at 10-15 mph, making for a chilly night with a low of 34°F. Drivers on I-80 and other major highways should prepare for slick conditions late Monday into Tuesday morning.

Tuesday will be even colder, with a high of 42°F and an 80% chance of snow showers. New snowfall accumulation is possible, though totals should remain light. By Wednesday, temperatures will stay below average, reaching only 47°F with mostly sunny skies.

Looking ahead, Utah’s first official spring weekend will bring unsettled weather. A mix of rain and snow is expected Thursday and Friday, with highs in the low 50s. The weekend may start with rain on Saturday before clearing later in the day.

With fluctuating conditions, Utah residents should stay updated on changing forecasts. Those traveling for St. Patrick’s Day should plan for wet roads and possible snow impacts overnight into Tuesday.
