Marysville, OH – A State Route 31 crash has turned deadly after a 23-year-old woman injured in the collision earlier this month died while receiving medical treatment, according to local authorities.
The Union County Sheriff’s Office reported Thursday that the Franklin County Coroner’s Office confirmed the death of Sofia B. Collazos Ingunza, a 23-year-old from Peru, at OSU hospital. Officials said Ingunza had been hospitalized since September 6, when the 2023 Jeep Renegade she was driving went left of center and struck a 2009 Honda Civic.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the cause of death was not released. Investigators have not yet determined whether alcohol or drugs were involved in the wreck.
The crash remains under investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office, Union County Coroner’s Office, and the Franklin County Coroner’s Office.
State Route 31, which runs through Marysville in Union County and connects into Franklin County, has seen multiple serious crashes in recent years, raising ongoing traffic safety concerns for area residents and commuters.
