New York, NY – Residents across the New York City metro suburbs should prepare for a blustery night as the National Weather Service in New York issues a Wind Advisory for southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York, effective from 9 p.m. Wednesday through 8 a.m. Thursday.

Forecasters expect west winds between 15 and 25 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph, especially in exposed areas of Fairfield, Bergen, Rockland, and Westchester counties.

The strongest winds will occur overnight as a cold front sweeps through the region, bringing potential for downed tree limbs, scattered power outages, and hazardous travel conditions, particularly for high-profile vehicles on I-87, I-95, and Garden State Parkway.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, such as trash bins and decorations, and use caution when driving. Winds are expected to diminish by early Thursday morning, but some gusty conditions may linger through the morning commute.
