Fort Bliss, Texas – Triple-digit heat returns to western Texas on Sunday, June 8, with dangerous temperatures threatening outdoor workers, drivers, and residents. A Heat Advisory will be in effect from noon to 8 p.m. MDT Sunday, with “feels like” temperatures soaring to 106°F across El Paso County, including Fort Bliss and areas along I-10 and U.S. 54.

According to the National Weather Service in El Paso, the advisory includes eastern and central El Paso County, western Hudspeth County, and surrounding Rio Grande Valley areas. The Sunday high near 103°F comes with light west winds and full sun, offering little relief. Officials urge residents to stay hydrated, limit outdoor exposure, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Daytime highs will flirt with triple digits through midweek, peaking again near 99°F on Monday and 94°F on Tuesday, before slight cooling arrives Wednesday. There’s also a 20% chance of thunderstorms Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons, which could bring gusty winds and temporary relief — but also raise the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas.

Tips: Wear loose, light-colored clothing, take frequent breaks in shaded areas if outdoors, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. Employers are encouraged to schedule rest periods and ensure access to water.

Warnings remain in effect through Sunday evening, with more advisories possible if heat persists into next week.
