Shreveport, Louisiana – Heavy rainfall across the Ark-La-Tex could lead to flash flooding through Thursday evening, with up to 4 inches of rain possible across parts of East Texas, southwest Arkansas, and northwest Louisiana.
According to the National Weather Service in Shreveport, a Flood Watch is in effect from 7 a.m. Wednesday through 7 p.m. Thursday for cities including Shreveport, Texarkana, Longview, Tyler, and Nacogdoches. Scattered thunderstorms fueled by an upper-level low are expected to produce widespread rain totals of 1 to 3 inches, with isolated areas exceeding 4 inches.
Low-lying areas, urban roads, and flood-prone zones like Bayou Pierre near Shreveport and the Sabine River basin may quickly overflow. Major roadways such as I-20, US-59, and LA-3132 could experience water pooling or closures. Residents in flood-prone neighborhoods should prepare now—charge devices, avoid unnecessary travel, and monitor for potential Flood Warnings.
This storm system arrives during an already saturated period, raising concern for repeat flooding similar to April’s flash flood event in East Texas.
Warnings remain in effect through Thursday evening, and additional advisories may be issued if rainfall intensifies.
