Tennessee Sheriff’s Office Seizes 50 Pounds of Fentanyl, Wins Top Award

Knoxville, TN – The Knox County Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Unit received the prestigious Top Narcotics Unit Award from the Tennessee Narcotics Officers Association on October 24. The recognition highlights the unit’s outstanding efforts in narcotics seizures and reducing overdose deaths.

According to the Knox County Sheriff’s Office, the Narcotics Unit seized over 50 pounds of fentanyl, 25 pounds of methamphetamine, and 150 firearms in 2024, contributing to a 26% decrease in overdose deaths in Knox County compared to the previous year. The unit also initiated over 30 federal prosecutions and more than 120 state cases.

Officials attribute the success to collaboration with agencies like the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and federal authorities.
