Kane County, IL – Authorities have updated the identities of those involved in a fatal four-vehicle crash at Plank and Switzer Road on March 9. The Kane County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that 18-year-old Erik Porcayo-Ramirez was among the two victims who died at the scene.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, the crash occurred around 9:43 p.m. Sunday when a red Ford F150 swerved to avoid a deer, narrowly missing a landscaping vehicle before colliding head-on with a white Ford F350. The impact caused the F350, which was hauling a trailer, to skid before being hit by a red Dodge Ram.
Two individuals, Porcayo-Ramirez and 25-year-old Rosalio Porcayo-Porcayo, both passengers in the white Ford F350, were pronounced dead at the scene. The truck’s driver, 22-year-old Yahir Porcayo-Porcayo, was flown to a hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the red Ford F150, identified as 18-year-old Vance Peterson, was rescued from his burning vehicle and airlifted to Loyola Hospital with serious burns and fractures. The driver of the Dodge Ram, 30-year-old Baldemar Rodriguez-Lopez, was not reported to have sustained significant injuries.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate.
