Spotsylvania County, VA – A 19-year-old Spotsylvania County man was killed in an early morning single-vehicle crash Sunday, according to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office, deputies and Spotsylvania Fire Rescue responded at approximately 5:45 a.m. Sunday, July 5, to the 6000 block of Ridge Road following reports of a motor vehicle crash.
When first responders arrived, they found a single vehicle that had struck a tree with one occupant inside. The driver was pronounced dead at the scene.
The victim was identified as Carter Ajello, 19, of Spotsylvania County. Authorities said his next of kin have been notified.
Preliminary findings from the Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit indicate a 2009 Jeep Cherokee left the roadway before striking the tree. Investigators have not released information about what may have caused the vehicle to leave the road.
The crash remains under investigation by the Spotsylvania Sheriff’s Office Crash Reconstruction Unit.
The Sheriff’s Office extended its condolences to Ajello’s family, friends, and everyone affected by the fatal crash.
