Pueblo, Colo. – Severe thunderstorms could strike parts of southern Colorado by Wednesday afternoon, with damaging wind and hail risks for areas stretching from the San Luis Valley to the I-25 corridor.

According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, strong to severe storms may develop after 2 p.m. Wednesday across the Southeast Mountains and nearby counties including Huerfano, Las Animas, and Custer. Storm risks include hail over 1 inch in diameter and winds exceeding 58 mph. Scattered storms will also continue today, especially for cities along and west of I-25 such as Pueblo, Walsenburg, and Trinidad.

Cooler-than-normal temperatures will persist through Tuesday, with highs ranging from the mid-50s in the mountains to the low 70s on the plains. Drivers should prepare for slick roads and limited visibility during afternoon commutes, particularly in areas seeing multiple rounds of showers.

Residents are urged to stay weather-aware and avoid outdoor activities during peak storm hours. Charge mobile devices and secure outdoor furniture in advance of gusty conditions. Wednesday’s storm activity may mark the region’s strongest outbreak since mid-May.

Additional advisories may be issued as conditions evolve. Active weather is expected to continue through Friday.
