Palm Springs, CA – Dangerous heat will surge into the Coachella Valley by 10 a.m. Wednesday, with temperatures climbing to 110°F and staying elevated through Saturday night, creating a prolonged risk for heat-related illness.

According to the National Weather Service in San Diego, an Extreme Heat Warning remains in effect from 10 a.m. Wednesday until 8 p.m. Saturday for the Coachella Valley, San Gorgonio Pass, and San Diego County deserts. Highs between 105 and 110 degrees are expected in cities including Palm Springs, Indio, La Quinta, and Coachella, while areas near Banning could see 98 to 108 degrees.

Overnight lows will only drop into the low to mid-70s, offering little relief and increasing cumulative heat stress, especially for vulnerable populations. The extended duration of heat raises concerns for dehydration and heat exhaustion across Riverside and eastern San Diego counties.

Residents are urged to stay indoors in air-conditioned spaces during peak afternoon hours, limit outdoor activity to early morning or late evening, and drink water frequently. Never leave children or pets in vehicles, where temperatures can become deadly within minutes.

The heat wave will persist through Saturday evening, and additional advisories remain possible if temperatures continue into early next week.
