Dickinson, ND – A 44-year-old man from South Heart was killed late Thursday night after his pickup rolled into a ditch in rural Stark County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.

Troopers say a passerby discovered the crashed 2002 Ford F-150 around 11:03 p.m. Mountain Time near 48th Street SW and 122nd Avenue SW. Preliminary findings show the truck was traveling north on 122nd Avenue SW at an unknown speed when the driver lost control, causing the vehicle to enter a ditch and roll.

According to investigators, the man was not wearing a seat belt and sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash. Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time of the incident.

Multiple agencies assisted at the scene, including the Stark County Sheriff’s Office, Dickinson Ambulance, and the Dickinson Rural Fire Department.

The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the cause of the crash, including what may have led to the driver losing control. The exact time of the crash remains under review.
