Wilmington, OH – Light snow is forecast for parts of Ohio late Wednesday night, primarily impacting areas north of Interstate 70. Forecasters caution drivers to prepare for potentially slick spots, especially on bridges and overpasses, as rain transitions to snow.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Wilmington, precipitation will begin as rain before turning to snow late Wednesday evening. The best chance for accumulation is north of I-70, with up to an inch of snow expected in some areas. While warm pavement may minimize road impacts, drivers should expect reduced visibility and exercise caution on elevated surfaces.
The weather system will bring rain earlier in the day Wednesday, with highs near 44°F, before transitioning to a mix of rain and snow after sunset. Low temperatures will drop to 34°F overnight, creating conditions for minor snow accumulation. Thanksgiving Day will see lingering rain and snow showers before skies clear later in the day, with highs around 41°F.
Looking ahead, cooler temperatures will dominate the rest of the holiday weekend. Thursday night will be mostly cloudy with a low of 24°F. Friday will be sunny but chilly, with highs only reaching 33°F. Saturday remains cold but clear, with a high near 31°F.
Drivers traveling for the holiday should monitor conditions closely and check for updates on roadway conditions. Officials urge caution on bridges and overpasses, where surfaces may freeze faster.
