Pueblo, Colorado – Critical fire weather conditions will develop by noon Saturday across southern Colorado, where gusty winds and very low humidity could quickly spark and spread wildfires, threatening areas along the I-25 corridor through the evening.
According to the National Weather Service in Pueblo, a Red Flag Warning is in effect from 12 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday for the San Luis Valley and southern I-25 corridor. Winds will increase through the afternoon, with gusts reaching 25 to 30 mph, while humidity levels drop sharply, creating dangerous fire conditions.
Communities including Pueblo, Trinidad, Alamosa, and Walsenburg are in the highest-risk zone. Major routes such as Interstate 25 and U.S. Highway 160 could be impacted if fires develop, with blowing embers and reduced visibility posing hazards to drivers. Any outdoor burning or activities that could create sparks should be avoided.
Temperatures will climb into the 60s and 70s this afternoon under dry conditions, further increasing fire خطر. Residents are urged to secure trailer chains, avoid parking on dry grass, and report any signs of smoke immediately.
Fire danger will decrease after sunset as winds ease, with increasing chances for showers returning Sunday into Monday. Additional updates are expected if fire conditions worsen.
