KANKAKEE, IL – A Kankakee teenager has been identified as the person found shot on a sidewalk overnight.
The Discovery has ignited an urgent plea for community assistance and sparked a relentless manhunt for the perpetrator. Kankakee City Police identified the victim as Kimoni Franks, a 16-year-old resident of Kankakee, was found lifeless with a gunshot wound to his upper body near the intersection of E. Birch St. and N. Park Ave.
Responding to reports of multiple gunshots, Kankakee City Patrol Officers arrived at the scene around 10:15 p.m. Tuesday night. Despite the immediate response from the Kankakee Fire Department, Franks tragically succumbed to his injuries.
