Circleville, OH – A 16-year-old boy from Circleville has died and another teen faces charges after a late-night crash in Pickaway County, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Matthew O. Hafey said the crash happened Sunday, September 27, at 11:16 p.m. in the yard of a residence at 12537 State Route 762 in Darby Township. Deputies responded after a 911 call reported a single-vehicle accident.

According to deputies, a 2003 white Ford F-250 driven by 17-year-old Carson L. Frazier of Circleville was headed northwest on State Route 762 when it struck a guardrail and lost control. The vehicle crossed the roadway before coming to rest against a home.

One of the passengers, 16-year-old Drace W. Johnson of Circleville, was transported by Sterling Joint EMS to Mount Carmel Grove City Hospital and later moved to Mount Carmel East. Johnson died from his injuries on Tuesday, September 29.

Two other juvenile male passengers were also in the truck at the time but their conditions were not released.

Deputies arrested Carson Frazier at the scene on charges of operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated. Sheriff Hafey said the investigation remains active and is being conducted jointly by the Pickaway County Sheriff’s Office and the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Sheriff Hafey also expressed gratitude to Sterling Joint EMS, Tri County Fire, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol for their assistance at the scene.

This marks another fatal accident in the county involving young drivers, raising renewed concerns about impaired and reckless driving among teens.
