Peoria, IL – Peoria Police are investigating a deadly shooting that left one man dead and a woman injured Sunday night on the city’s north side.

According to the Peoria Police Department, officers responded around 8:18 p.m. on Sunday, October 26, to the 3200 block of North Isabell Avenue after receiving reports of a male shot inside a vehicle.

When officers arrived, the victim was not immediately found at the scene. Shortly after, police located a crashed vehicle at the intersection of Isabell and Merle, where two people were discovered inside.

Police said the male driver, 20, had been shot in the chest and was later pronounced dead at a local hospital. His identity will be released by the Peoria County Coroner. The female passenger, 18, suffered a gunshot wound to the arm and was treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigations Division and Crime Scene Unit are leading the investigation. Police are asking residents and businesses in the area to review surveillance footage from between 7:30 and 10:30 p.m. on Sunday for any suspicious activity.
