Philadelphia, Pennsylvania – Steamy heat and summer storms will grip Philadelphia starting Monday as a summer weather alert looms for the region. Thunderstorms could begin developing after 2 p.m., bringing isolated downpours and lightning threats during peak travel and outdoor activity hours.

According to the National Weather Service, Sunday’s high will climb to 91°F with a 40% chance of thunderstorms, particularly in the late afternoon and evening. Winds will pick up out of the southwest at 5–10 mph. Residents should stay weather-aware if heading outdoors or traveling along I-76 or Roosevelt Boulevard, where visibility and conditions may rapidly deteriorate during storms.

Storm risks into Monday night, when another round of thunderstorms may arrive before 8 p.m., with additional lightning and brief gusty winds possible. Daytime highs again push 91°F, continuing a multi-day hot stretch before modest relief midweek.

Tuesday and Wednesday both carry 30–50% chances for afternoon and evening thunderstorms, keeping the wet pattern active through Thursday. With afternoon highs in the upper 80s and continued humidity, outdoor plans and road conditions may remain unpredictable.
