Medford, OR – Residents of Medford should prepare for potentially hazardous weather conditions on Saturday as atmospheric instability is set to drive widespread showers west of the Cascades. The National Weather Service (NWS) has warned that while flash flooding is not expected, the first significant rainfall in some time could lead to urban water accumulation and slick roads.

According to the NWS, storms will likely produce significant lightning, posing a risk to anyone outdoors. Additionally, downdrafts could create gusty and erratic winds, potentially surprising drivers, breaking tree branches, and causing other hazards. The storm is expected to bring between 0.12 and 0.42 inches of rain, with higher amounts in some areas.

Looking ahead, conditions are forecasted to improve, with sunny skies returning on Sunday through Thursday. Highs will remain steady, ranging from 78 to 82 degrees. Despite this weekend’s storms, Medford should enjoy a week of mild, dry weather. Residents are advised to stay updated on weather developments and exercise caution during the Saturday storms.
