Cleveland, Ohio – Air quality across much of Northeast Ohio will dip into unhealthy levels for sensitive groups on Tuesday, triggering a daylong advisory that spans urban centers like Cleveland, Akron, and Ashtabula.
According to the Northeast Ohio Areawide Coordinating Agency (NOACA), an Air Quality Advisory is in effect from 12 a.m. to 11:59 p.m. Tuesday for Cuyahoga, Lorain, Summit, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Ashtabula, and Medina counties. Fine particle pollution—often worsened by stagnant summer weather and pollution buildup—will pose risks to children, the elderly, and those with respiratory issues.
Cities from Elyria and Mentor to Wadsworth and Geneva are included. Residents in these areas are urged to limit strenuous outdoor activities, particularly during afternoon and evening hours when pollution tends to peak.
To reduce air pollution, NOACA recommends combining errands, using public transit, avoiding idling engines, refueling after dark, and postponing lawn mowing.
While no burn bans or traffic restrictions are currently in place, agencies warn that additional alerts could be issued if conditions worsen. Real-time updates are available at airnow.gov.
