Cleveland, Ohio – Dry and warm conditions Monday will quickly give way to multiple rounds of rain and thunderstorms, with the first impacts arriving by Tuesday afternoon and potentially slowing travel across northern Ohio.
According to the National Weather Service in Cleveland, Monday will stay mostly sunny with highs between 72 and 76 degrees before a stronger system pushes in. Showers and thunderstorms are expected to develop Tuesday afternoon and continue into Wednesday, bringing periods of heavy rain and reduced visibility.
The most consistent impacts are expected along major routes including I-90, I-71, and I-75, where wet pavement and brief downpours could lead to slower commutes Tuesday and Wednesday. Cities including Cleveland, Akron, Toledo, and Youngstown will see repeated rounds of rain, with isolated thunderstorms producing gusty winds and localized ponding on roads.
Severe weather is more likely to remain west and south of the region, but a few stronger storms cannot be ruled out, especially in western Ohio. Drivers should prepare for changing conditions and allow extra travel time during heavier rain periods.
Conditions begin improving by Thursday as drier air moves in, followed by cooler temperatures in the 50s into Friday. Additional updates are expected as the timing of midweek storms becomes more precise.
