South Bend, IN – Northern Indiana will enjoy a stretch of calm, seasonal fall weather early this week before rain chances increase midweek, according to the National Weather Service in Northern Indiana.

Forecasters say Monday and Tuesday will feature mostly dry conditions with partly sunny skies and high temperatures in the mid- to upper 50s, typical for late October. Overnight lows will drop into the 30s and low 40s, bringing crisp, cool mornings.

A storm system is expected to approach the region Wednesday through Friday, bringing periods of rain and cloudier conditions. The exact track of the system remains uncertain, but forecasters currently give a 40–60% chance of precipitation during the middle and latter part of the week.

Temperatures will change little from day to day, though slightly cooler conditions are expected by Friday as the system exits and northerly winds develop.

This week’s pattern continues the region’s mild and stable October trend, with no signs of severe weather or frost concerns in the near term.

Residents planning Halloween events later in the week should monitor forecasts for updates on rainfall timing.
