Eureka, CA – The National Weather Service in Eureka has issued multiple marine alerts for the Northern California coast, warning of dangerous winds and high seas from Friday night through Sunday morning, October 26, 2025.
A Small Craft Advisory remains in effect until 3 a.m. Saturday, followed by a Gale Warning from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. PDT Saturday for the waters from Pt. St. George to Cape Mendocino, extending 10 to 60 nautical miles offshore.
According to the National Weather Service, southwest winds of 15 to 25 knots with gusts up to 35 knots and seas between 12 and 15 feet are expected. Conditions will worsen as the system intensifies, prompting a Hazardous Seas Watch from Saturday morning through Sunday, with waves possibly reaching 14 to 19 feet.
A separate Small Craft Advisory also remains in effect for the Cape Mendocino to Pt. Arena marine zone until 8 p.m. Saturday, where seas up to 13 feet and gusts to 30 knots are forecast.
Forecasters caution that strong winds and steep waves may capsize or damage vessels and reduce visibility. Mariners are urged to remain in port, secure equipment, and avoid open waters until conditions improve late Sunday.
