Eureka, California – A sharp warming trend will bring summer-like temperatures to northwest California this week, with inland highs nearing 90°F in parts of Mendocino, Lake, and Trinity counties by Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service in Eureka, the hottest days will fall between Tuesday, May 6, and Thursday, May 8, with locations like Ukiah, Willow Creek, and Clearlake forecast to reach highs between 85°F and 88°F. Overnight lows will remain mild, ranging from the mid-40s to upper 50s across most inland areas.

Cities like Weaverville (86°F), Upper Lake (87°F), and Middletown (86°F) are also expected to see extended periods of heat through Saturday. Cooler coastal areas such as Gasquet and Orleans will still see highs in the upper 70s and low 80s.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activity during peak afternoon heat, and check on vulnerable populations. With temperatures this high, heat exhaustion can set in quickly — especially in areas without air conditioning.

This warming trend could continue through next weekend. Additional updates will be issued as conditions evolve.
