Fort Worth, Texas – North and Central Texas will swelter under mid-90s heat this weekend as scattered storms threaten to disrupt plans from Thursday through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Fort Worth, Dallas-Fort Worth could see strong to severe storms by Saturday night, with rain chances peaking at 40% on Sunday. Highs across the metroplex will reach 94°F Saturday before slightly cooling into the low 90s early next week. The strongest storm risk spans areas north of I-20, including Sherman, Paris, and Gainesville.

In Central Texas, cities like Waco, Temple, and Killeen will bake under highs near 96°F Saturday with isolated thunderstorms arriving Sunday. Rain chances hold steady into Monday, posing potential delays for travel and outdoor events.

The weather service warns that any storms could bring damaging winds and brief downpours. Residents should avoid outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours, monitor weather alerts, and secure loose outdoor items.

The storm threat remains scattered, but the heat will be widespread. Texans should stay hydrated, limit strenuous activity, and check on vulnerable neighbors.

More storms may develop Monday into Tuesday. Heat and storm advisories remain possible throughout the region.
