North Dakota Tornado Kills 3 in Cass County, Emergency Response Underway

Cass County, ND – Three people were found dead late Friday night in rural Cass County after a tornado struck the Enderlin area, prompting an extensive emergency response.

According to the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded around 11:40 p.m. Friday after reports of tornado damage in rural Enderlin. Upon arrival, fire officials informed them that storm chasers had located two deceased individuals. A third victim was later discovered at a separate tornado-damaged site.

Authorities say significant structural damage was found throughout the area. Deputies, working with multiple emergency agencies, immediately began checking on residents’ safety. Crews from the Enderlin and Alice Fire Departments, Casselton and Lisbon Ambulance Services, the North Dakota Highway Patrol, and the Red River Valley UAS Unit are assisting in the effort.

Law enforcement and first responders are continuing to search the area and conduct wellness checks on affected residents.

Sheriff Jesse Jahner is scheduled to hold a press conference at 7:30 a.m. Saturday at the northeast corner of County Road 38 and Highway 46 to provide updates.

The sheriff’s office stated the investigation into the fatalities and the full impact of the tornado remains ongoing.
