Charlotte, North Carolina – Scattered thunderstorms could interrupt Monday afternoon plans across the Charlotte metro, with heat pushing highs to 87°F by mid-day. Localized downpours and lightning may affect commuters on I-77 and I-85, especially after 2 p.m.

According to the National Weather Service, there’s a 30% chance of showers and storms developing Monday afternoon and again Monday night. While rainfall totals are expected to stay light, gusty winds and lightning could pose travel hazards during peak drive times.

Expect calm conditions early Monday, with increasing humidity and cloud cover into the afternoon. By evening, another round of thunderstorms may pop up across Mecklenburg County and surrounding areas. Winds will be light but could become gusty near storms.

Tuesday brings another 40% chance of thunderstorms after 2 p.m., with highs near 86°F. Storms may linger into Tuesday night, and residents should stay weather-aware if traveling after sunset.
