North Carolina – A freeze warning remains in effect today, with temperatures plunging into the 20s overnight across Southeast NC. Residents near Wilmington and along I-40 are urged to take precautions to protect sensitive vegetation and exposed plumbing.
According to the National Weather Service in Wilmington, lows tonight will range from 25 to 29 degrees inland, with coastal areas around 32. A sunny start is expected Sunday as temperatures recover, reaching highs in the upper 50s.
Clear skies and calm conditions will persist through the week. Sunday night will bring lows near 32, followed by Monday’s high of 48 degrees. Monday night could see a colder drop to 25 degrees, so outdoor precautions should continue.
The weather outlook for the week shows a gradual warm-up, with sunny skies dominating. Highs will hit 52 by Wednesday and climb to 61 by Thursday. Although freezing conditions may ease midweek, frosty mornings remain likely.
Travelers should plan for potential frost on vehicles during early commutes and ensure road safety by clearing windshields. Gardeners are reminded to protect plants and flowers with coverings tonight, as frost can cause damage.
