Prescott, AR – A former volunteer coach is facing additional felony charges in Nevada County after Arkansas State Police (ASP) expanded their child exploitation investigation this week.
According to ASP, Alejandro Mendoza, 35, of Texarkana, was charged Wednesday, October 1, in both Nevada and Hempstead Counties. The new charges involve multiple juvenile victims identified across Miller, Sevier, Hempstead, and Nevada counties.
Mendoza was first arrested on September 11, 2024, after Nevada County Sheriff’s deputies sought help from the ASP Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. His initial bond was set at $250,000. He was arrested again on October 7, 2024, with support from the ASP Highway Patrol Division and the U.S. Marshals Service, at which point Circuit Judge Duncan Culpepper raised his bond to $2 million.
Authorities say Mendoza is now facing 24 felony counts, including rape, sexual grooming of a child, indecency with a child by exposure, internet stalking of a child, and multiple charges of engaging minors in sexually explicit conduct.
Mendoza remains in custody at the Nevada County Detention Center while the investigation continues.
