According to the National Weather Service in Hastings, showers are expected to develop by 1 p.m. Wednesday, with a 30 percent chance of thunderstorms. Winds will shift northwest at 5 to 10 mph, with stronger gusts possible late in the day. No severe storms are currently anticipated, but the system may bring brief heavy downpours and increased travel hazards along rural highways.

By Thursday, rain becomes more likely across the region. Scattered thunderstorms could develop after 1 p.m., with chances of precipitation increasing to 60%. Commuters along U.S. Route 281 and Route 6 should expect wet roads and visibility issues during the afternoon and evening. Rainfall totals may range between a quarter and half an inch.
