Smithfield Township, PA – Pennsylvania State Police are investigating an attempted homicide after a 16-year-old girl was shot during a Halloween party in Monroe County late Friday night.

According to police, the incident occurred around 11:42 p.m. on October 24 at a residence on Carillon Drive in East Stroudsburg. Troopers from the Stroudsburg barracks were dispatched following a 911 hang-up call and later learned of a large gathering in the area where gunfire erupted.

Investigators say the block was hosting a large Halloween party when a confrontation broke out between Benjamin Carl Booth, 18, and Unique Kaheem Johnson, 20. During the argument, Johnson allegedly pulled a handgun and fired multiple rounds toward others as the groups dispersed.

A 16-year-old female was struck by gunfire and taken to a local medical facility for treatment. Police report that she is expected to survive.

Booth was taken into custody and charged with Attempted Homicide and related offenses. Johnson remains at large and is wanted on an active arrest warrant for Attempted Homicide.

Authorities are urging anyone with information on Johnson’s whereabouts to contact the PSP Stroudsburg barracks at 570-619-6800.
