Maryland Crash Update: Pedestrian Fatally Struck on MD-295 Saturday

Baltimore, MD – A fatal crash shut down part of MD-295 early Saturday morning after a pedestrian was struck and killed in Baltimore City.

According to the Maryland Transportation Authority (MDTA) Police, the collision happened at approximately 1:10 a.m. in the southbound lanes of MD-295 near Westport Street. Officers from the Central Command Detachment responded to the scene, where they located a box truck involved in the crash.

Investigators said the pedestrian was walking in the roadway at the time of the incident. The individual was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the box truck was not injured, police confirmed.

The MDTA Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is leading the investigation, which remains active and ongoing. Officials are urging anyone who witnessed the crash to contact MDTA Police at 410-537-1209.

Traffic in the area was affected as authorities worked to process the scene and clear the roadway. Drivers using MD-295 early Saturday experienced delays near the Westport exit.
