Shreveport, LA – Temperatures are set to plunge again tonight, prompting the National Weather Service to extend a freeze warning for northwest Louisiana. The warning will go into effect from midnight through 9 a.m. Saturday, affecting areas along the I-20 corridor, including Shreveport, Texarkana, and Monroe.
According to the National Weather Service, temperatures are expected to dip as low as 28°F. Officials warn that frost and freeze conditions could damage crops, harm sensitive vegetation, and impact unprotected plumbing. Residents should take immediate precautions, such as covering plants, insulating outdoor pipes, and ensuring pets are sheltered.
The current sunny weather will persist through Black Friday, with highs near 55°F. However, calm winds and clear skies overnight will contribute to tonight’s freeze. Saturday brings slightly warmer conditions with a high near 59°F, while the overnight low will drop to 35°F.
Looking ahead, Sunday promises sunshine with highs reaching 62°F, offering relief from the cold. Nights will remain chilly, with lows in the mid-30s through early next week. By Tuesday, a slight chance of showers may return, but daytime highs will stay near 60°F.
Drivers along I-20 should remain cautious of potential frost on bridges and overpasses in the early morning hours. Stay informed by monitoring local forecasts and taking steps to protect your home and garden from the cold snap.
