Kendall County, IL – Three people from Plano and Aurora are facing multiple felony charges after deputies allegedly uncovered evidence of animal fighting during a recent investigation.

According to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, detectives executed a search warrant on September 25 in the 0-1000 block of Vilmin Road in Little Rock Township. During the operation, more than 400 gamefowl, or chickens, were seized along with other evidence. Kendall County Animal Control assisted with relocating the birds to licensed rescue organizations.

The Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged 37-year-old Manuel Alarcon of Plano, 46-year-old Yanina Alava of Plano, and 37-year-old Alejandro Alvarez of Aurora. Alarcon and Alava each face twelve counts of owning and training animals for sport fighting, as well as counts for breeding animals and possessing related equipment. Alvarez faces eleven counts of owning and training animals for fighting, along with one count for possessing equipment. All charges are classified as felonies under the Illinois Animals in Entertainment Act.

Deputies said all three were booked into the Kendall County Jail and later released with pre-trial conditions following their September 27 court hearings.

The Sheriff’s Office noted that the investigation remains active and ongoing. Officials reminded the public that all defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
