ST. CHARLES, IL – A Kane County jury has found Dru K. Jarvis, of Lake in the Hills, guilty of first-degree murder in connection with a 2020 road rage shooting in Elgin that left one man dead and another injured.

According to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser, Jarvis was convicted of first-degree murder, attempted first-degree murder, and armed violence. Prosecutors said Jarvis, a passenger in a white sedan, fired multiple gunshots into another car on Route 31 (North State Street) on August 22, 2020, killing Francisco Trujillo-Uscanga, 41, of Elgin.

Trujillo-Uscanga was struck in the torso after his Mini Cooper’s driver honked at Jarvis’s vehicle. The driver survived after being shot several times.

Just a week later, prosecutors said Jarvis committed another shooting in Elgin, leading to his 2021 conviction for aggravated discharge of a weapon. That arrest later linked him to the fatal Route 31 shooting.

Jarvis faces a minimum of 96 years in prison when sentenced. His next court appearance is scheduled for December 3, 2025, at the Kane County Judicial Center.

Assistant State’s Attorney Mark Stajdohar called the case a reminder of how “anger behind the wheel can turn into irreversible violence.”
