Miami, Florida – Travel across Miami could turn messy by late Wednesday morning as another round of strong summer thunderstorms pushes across South Florida. With a 70% chance of storms and peak heat near 85°F, residents should expect sudden downpours, slick roads, and possible flooding — especially near U.S. 1 and low-lying intersections.

According to the National Weather Service in Miami, thunderstorms are expected after 11 a.m. Wednesday, with gusty southeast winds near 15 mph and periods of heavy rain. While rainfall amounts may be moderate, localized thunderstorm cells could bring quick accumulations and reduced visibility. Commuters are urged to allow extra travel time and avoid driving through flooded streets.

Parts of Broward and Miami-Dade counties may experience stronger cells into the afternoon, with the chance for thunder lingering into Wednesday night. Thursday brings more of the same — a 50% chance of rain and storms — before a brief dip in storm activity Friday night.

Looking Ahead:

  • Thursday: Showers and storms likely (50%) with highs in the upper 80s. Light southeast winds continue.
  • Friday: 40% chance of thunderstorms under partly sunny skies, high near 86°F.
  • Saturday: Slight rain chance early (20%), then mostly sunny. A hot, humid afternoon near 86°F.
  • Sunday: Another 40% chance of afternoon thunderstorms, high 87°F.
  • Monday: Summer storm chances continue (30%) with warm, muggy conditions around 87°F.
