Tampa, FL – Forecasters are monitoring a weak tropical disturbance near the Bahamas that could bring additional rainfall to Florida over the next several days.

According to the US National Weather Service Tampa Bay, the system has only a 10% chance of tropical development within the next seven days. The disturbance is expected to drift northwest across the Florida peninsula, raising rain chances in west-central and southwest Florida.

Meteorologists say that regardless of whether the system organizes, locally heavy rainfall is possible through the weekend. No major impacts are currently expected for the region, but forecasters urge residents to stay updated in case the outlook changes.

The disturbance formed along a remnant frontal boundary east of Florida. While conditions are not favorable for rapid strengthening, moisture from the system could enhance daily showers and thunderstorms, particularly in coastal areas.

Residents across Tampa Bay, Fort Myers, Sarasota, and surrounding communities are advised to monitor forecasts closely through the weekend. Officials emphasize that this is not a track forecast cone but a general area where the disturbance could move.

More updates will be issued as new forecast data becomes available.
