Elmhurst, IL: Police Arrest Suspect in Series of Chicago Suburb Bank Robberies

Elmhurst, IL – Authorities have arrested a 24-year-old man in connection to a series of bank robberies in Chicago’s suburbs. The suspect, German Campos Jr., was apprehended during a search at his Franklin Park residence on Sunday.

According to the Elmhurst Police Department, Campos is alleged to have committed robberies in Elmhurst, Park Ridge, and Niles between December 2023 and August 2024. The first two robberies occurred at the same U.S. Bank on South York Street in Elmhurst, where a weapon was implied in December and a handgun was displayed in June.

Additional robberies in August targeted banks in Park Ridge and Niles. FBI agents worked with Elmhurst, Park Ridge, and Franklin Park police to investigate the string of robberies. Campos has been charged with two counts of federal bank robbery and is currently being held at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Chicago.
