Duluth, MN – A strong storm system is expected to bring rain, thunderstorms, gusty winds, and snow to Minnesota starting Friday and lasting through the weekend. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Duluth warns of rapidly changing conditions, with a mix of precipitation that could impact travel and outdoor plans.

According to the NWS, rain and thunderstorms will develop Friday, followed by a transition to a wintry mix and eventually snow by late Saturday into Sunday. The system is also expected to bring gusty winds and a sharp drop in temperatures Saturday night, leading to a freeze.

Temperatures will warm up into the 50s on Friday before plunging into the 20s by Sunday morning. Snowfall amounts remain uncertain, but on-and-off precipitation will persist into next week, with light snow possible Tuesday and Wednesday.

Residents are advised to prepare for rapidly changing road conditions and potential power outages due to strong winds. Travel disruptions are possible, especially as temperatures drop and precipitation transitions to snow. More updates will be issued as the storm approaches.
