Daviess County, Indiana – A traffic stop on CR 900 East led to an OWI arrest Friday.

According to Indiana State Police Jasper Post, Trooper Steve Nolan was patrolling CR 900 East near Cannelton early Friday morning when he stopped a black 2016 Chevrolet passenger car for speeding.

Police said the driver, identified as 26-year-old Griffin L. Spring of Loogootee, allegedly showed visible signs of impairment after the trooper made contact. Authorities said Spring was speaking with Nolan when those signs were observed.

During a Bureau of Motor Vehicles check, troopers determined Spring’s driver’s license was previously suspended, according to state police.

Spring was transported to the Daviess County Jail for a chemical test, police said. He was later arrested and booked into the Daviess County Jail, where he is being held on bond.

According to authorities, Spring faces the following charges:

  • Operating While Intoxicated – Class A Misdemeanor
  • Driving While Suspended Prior – Class A Misdemeanor

Indiana State Police identified Trooper Steve Nolan as the arresting officer.

Officials emphasized that all criminal defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.

The arrest highlights ongoing patrol enforcement efforts on rural county roads, particularly during early morning hours when visibility and driver alertness can be reduced. The roadway is commonly used by local commuters and young drivers traveling between Loogootee and surrounding communities.
