Hollansburg, OH – Three people were hospitalized early Saturday morning after a pickup truck left the roadway and struck a tree along South Main Street in Hollansburg, according to the Darke County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies reported that the crash happened at approximately 1:18 a.m. on the 100 block of S. Main St., where crews from Hollansburg Fire Department, Tri-Village Rescue, Arcanum Rescue, and Medflight responded to the scene. According to deputies, a 2001 red Chevrolet Silverado driven by Dylan Ackley, 21, of New Madison, Ohio, was traveling south when the truck allegedly veered off the left side of the road and crashed into a tree.

Officials said Ackley sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was flown by Medflight to Miami Valley Hospital for treatment. Two passengers, Bailey Bensman, 19, of Hollansburg, and Amberlyn Kesler, 20, of West Alexandria, were transported to Reid Hospital by Tri-Village Rescue and Arcanum Rescue. Deputies reported that both passengers also suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

According to the sheriff’s office, alcohol is believed to be a factor in the crash. Investigators have not released additional details about what may have led up to the vehicle leaving the roadway, and the incident remains under investigation as of Saturday morning.

Residents in the area reported seeing multiple emergency units working the scene for an extended period following the early-morning impact. No other vehicles were involved in the crash.

Authorities are expected to release updates as the investigation continues.
