Cook County, IL – Authorities in Cook County have recovered more than $2 million worth of stolen merchandise from a warehouse in Oak Forest, investigators announced Tuesday.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Police Organized Retail Crime (ORC) Unit, insurance investigators traced a stolen cargo trailer containing Target merchandise to a warehouse on the 4100 block of 166th Street. The products were originally reported stolen from a Joliet facility on Dec. 13.
On Dec. 30, detectives met with the warehouse owner and obtained consent to search the property. Inside, they found multiple pallets of stolen Dyson products, Wahl hair clippers, and Nike shoes, among other retail items. Investigators later learned that the Dyson merchandise had been stolen while being transported from California to Kentucky, while the clippers were linked to a theft in Whiteside County, Illinois.
The ORC team also recovered stolen items from major retailers including Amazon, Kohl’s, Macy’s, Old Navy, Ulta, Victoria’s Secret, and Walmart.
Officials said the investigation remains active and ongoing, as they work to identify additional suspects and theft networks possibly tied to multi-state operations.
Authorities are urging businesses to report suspicious bulk shipments or resale activity that may involve stolen retail goods.
