Denver, CO – A winter storm warning remains in effect for Colorado’s high country through 8 p.m. MST Saturday, bringing up to 10 inches of snow and strong winds that could make travel hazardous.

According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Denver, the storm will impact areas above 9,000 feet, including Rabbit Ears Pass, Rocky Mountain National Park, and Cameron Pass. Snow accumulations between 3 and 10 inches are expected, with wind gusts reaching 35 mph.

Mountain roads, including major passes, could become snow-covered and icy, leading to dangerous or nearly impossible travel conditions. The Park Range, Medicine Bow Range, and Never Summer Mountains are expected to see the heaviest snowfall.

Officials urge travelers to carry emergency supplies, including flashlights, food, and water, if they must drive through affected areas. Colorado residents can check updated road conditions by dialing 511 or visiting www.cotrip.org.

The storm is expected to taper off by Saturday night, but lingering snowfall and strong winds may still impact travel into Sunday morning.
