Charleston, WV – A stretch of warm, dry weather will continue through the weekend across much of West Virginia, according to the US National Weather Service Charleston WV. Afternoon highs are expected to climb into the mid-80s in the lowlands and the mid-60s at higher elevations, with clear skies and calm conditions through Monday. Overnight lows will dip into the 40s and 50s.

A shift arrives by Tuesday, when a cold front moves in from the west, bringing a chance for showers and isolated thunderstorms. The Weather Service reports that most rain will fall late Tuesday through Tuesday night, with a few lingering showers expected into Wednesday morning before clearing to the southeast.

By Thursday, drier and cooler conditions will return, with daytime highs in the 60s and overnight lows in the 40s. Another weather system could bring additional rain toward the end of the week.

Residents planning outdoor activities this weekend should enjoy pleasant conditions but prepare for changing weather early next week.
