Springfield, IL – A significant severe weather outbreak is expected across Illinois starting Friday evening, bringing the threat of tornadoes, damaging winds, and large hail. According to the Illinois Emergency Management Agency, storms are expected to begin in west-central Illinois around 7 p.m. Friday and move eastward overnight. Potential hazards include wind gusts exceeding 75 mph, hail larger than golf balls, and the possibility of multiple tornadoes. Heavy rainfall may also lead to localized flooding.
