Los Angeles, California – Triple-digit heat will scorch parts of Southern California from Thursday through Saturday, with interior areas of San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara counties under a Heat Advisory Friday as temperatures soar to 101°F in Paso Robles and 100°F in Lancaster.

According to the National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard, the hottest day is expected Friday, with highs between 88°F and 102°F. The advisory covers inland zones where heat-related illnesses are more likely during the peak afternoon hours. Residents are urged to stay hydrated and avoid outdoor activity during midday.

Humidity will plunge into the 10–20% range, and combined with gusty onshore winds, the risk of fast-moving grass fires will increase significantly across Cuyama Valley, Big Pine Mountain, and areas east of Santa Maria through Sunday. Officials urge extreme caution with ignition sources such as power tools and campfires.

Beachgoers looking to cool off should be wary of strong rip currents this weekend, driven by a long-period south swell pushing into coastal waters.

A slight 10–20% chance of showers or thunderstorms returns late Saturday into Sunday as an upper low shifts south. Heat advisories and fire weather concerns remain active into the weekend.
